You said you'd swap it with a transmission from a YJ. The YJ has an Aisian AX15 for its transmission. The X has a Nissan FS5R30A.

Nothing about those transmissions is the same. So I'm curious how you'd swap one.

Well I guess it was just too damn far away. Looked like a great deal but I think it is just too far to drive for a vehicle that could have issues I am not aware of. I am fine to drive two or three hours I guess to see one but there is just too much risk on going that far. So the search continues a bit more locally unfortunately. Sorry guys!!

sucks too because that looks like a great deal... I drove to East Charlotte for my last truck a Big Bronco and that was 4.5 hours one way. My wife went with me and she was cool but I could tell that was about as far as she was wiling to drive one way for a damn car. We need to get teleporters invented so we can just beam over to where we need to be to look at trucks we won't need anymore LOL..

Okay sports fans...I think I just made a deal to buy that yellow one. Been texting and talking on the phone with him and the truck needs a few things but overall it is very nice. He sent me a couple videos of the truck running and inside etc. etc. It even has a kickass double din stereo and sub out back. I am pretty excited about it, never thought I would get a yellow one but after looking over a thread here with a yellow one it sure looks nice. We are supposed to make the deal on tuesday so got some planning to do. The only way I will not get it is if he is hiding some major issue from me and after looking over the video I kinda doubt that. It seems to run very well and he has done some tasteful mods to it already. It even has the sunroof like I was hoping for. SO with any luck I will be wheeling and tweaking this thing to death along with you Xterra junkies in here very soon!!! Wish me luck that the truck is everything it appears to be and that we can get it here safely. Peace

I understand the "yellow" thing.

Be absolutely sure to check when the timing belt was/is due. That info can be found under the hood if done by Nissan.

This will be the first YELLOW truck I have ever owned. I think it looks awesome really just never thought I would have one. The truck appears to already have some sort of custom bumpers in front and back. I don't think they look bad but they are not really my taste so I will be either modifying them or completely redoing them. I really like some of the ones I see in here. Been reading thru some of the threads in here and seeing all of the cool modifications you guys are doing is really awesome. I REALLY REALLY want to SAS this monster I think it would be totally wicked with that but I will have to do some research on it. Decide whether or not I want to make it all myself or buy that calmini kit or whatever. This should be a lot of fun either way. He said he drives it daily 40 minutes to work and back and never has any problems with it so that is good. Very excited about it here. My kids are too LOL... Thanks for all the help and suggestions guys it is much appreciated.

Aah jeez........ well after talking with the fellow with the yellow Xterra and almost deciding to buy it from him he told me about a few other problems it has and unfortunately coupled with the distance to get it here I decided to pass on it this morning. I am kinda bummed out here as it really looked good in the videos and pictures. But honestly I think I better stick to trucks that are within a reasonable driving distance and get to drive and see them myself before I take any long road trips. I have been burnt before a couple years ago on a beautiful Fox body mustang that looked glorious in the pictures and after driving to Cincinatti with a friends borrowed truck and trailer to see it the damn thing turned out to be a royal piece of crap and the guy was a master photographer LOL. Sorry guys I really thought I had one there for a little bit. SO the search continues!!!! SIGH

yeah but honestly I would rather err on the side of caution and NOT have people driving long distances for nothing than the latter. These trucks are not hemi superbirds, there will be another one along in a little while I think. It is what it is man. I will find one hopefully sooner rather than later.

wondering how hard it would be to convert a 5 speed 2wd to a 4wd... There are some good deals on manual 2wd ones around here. Probably not even worth the trouble right...

Sheeeet! Found several different 5 speed 4x4's and they are all very far away. Kinda getting disgusted looking now ROFL. I am gonna get my head back into my CNC machining and check here and there until I find one. I know what I am after is not exactly common but they are out there. Don't even want or need the uber scarce Supercharged model ;)

Well folks I spoke to a dealer down in Atlanta today which is about 2.5 hours away. He had a 4x4 5 speed advertised but by the time I called it had sold. Good price too... Anyways he told me he gets these trucks a lot and thought he might be able to find what I am looking for. I hope he can do it but ya never know. Unfortunately no 5 speeds popped up today. Did a bunch of CNC machining today and tried to search while the machine was running ;)

Honestly I am considering it as it appears her truck is well cared for. The only issues are the miles it has on it and the price. I was hoping for a truck with somewhere in the 100-150k range. at the rate I am going tho it may turn out that beggars can't be choosers LOL I have spoken to her about it tho...

Well I think I MAY possibly have finally found one. Guy is sending me video of it now... Its not too far away and the price is right. Looks great in the pictures. He said he would hold it for me until the weekend when I can drive over to see it. Wish me luck guys!!
