It always amazes me how tires can change the look of a truck
roadwarrior: first impressions obviously they look awesome. driving impressions, i expected more noise but they still sing to me softly lol. they are noticeably stiffer because my truck is bouncier and it likes to float on the road more. just takes getting used to.
and yeah i agree with all of you. great set
The Duratracs are commercial traction tires, so, have a relatively high load range, so, they can be bouncy/stiff, especially if the PSI is too high. What PSI are you running them at, and what does it say on the sidewalls about the max load range and max psi? (Generally, the range is so high, that for an X, you only need about half the max load, so the tire is not in its sweet spot as far as load/handling, etc...so to get it to the sweet spot for handling, its going to ride rougher.)
Glad you like them. I'm deciding on getting rid of my Rugged Fails that are on my yellow X and replacing them with either Duratracs or something else. I loved the pair on my TJ.
I'm running 35 in mine. The seem to be wearing good and the ride isn't too badthanks for the input fellas. i figure i will run 38-40 psi and idc about drive quality much. if i cared i would buy a caddy

yeah. texas roads are rather rough anyway. the drought and stuff has caused the ground below the roads to shift too much and break so it's like going off roading on your daily commute lol
Y'all run tires high, mine stay around 25lbs. Lol Sent from my iPhone4 using Tapatalk
Hey the Cross Bronx Expressway isnt the smoothest road either hahah
They will get louder as they wear. Mine are singing pretty good now, but I don't really care, I just turn up the radio. I love the way they look, and grip. Right now the only other tire I think I'd ever move to is a 255/85/16 BFG KM2, but I seriously doubt I'll do that as long as the X is my daily driver.
I'm running mine at 40psi now, little tight but they will wear a bit better like that (and I do it to squeeze out a little more MPG when I'm commuting.) Rought ride doesn't bug me much.
I have run them as low as 20 on the highway and they don't even bulge. They feel like marshmallows at 20, I wouldn't recommend it long term. I did that in winter when the road was getting covered with snow on and off, and they eat snow like a mad yeti with the low psi. I went through the city ramming over the piles the plows left to pass folks hung up in the plowed part. It was freaking awesome. They probably thought I was a jerk, but I'm not the idiot that took a 2wd car out on 6" of hard packed sleet/snow/ice.
That looks great man. I can't believe you're only rubbing "a little". I felt like I was wearing straight through to the engine bay when I had mine put on.
better believe it sir
the guy at discount was surprised at how little they rubbed.
yeah i haven't done melt mod yet tj. once i do that, it'll be clear by at least 3-4". it's two inches clear now until i turn. i just was too lazy to do the melt mod and it doesn't bother me much. i will do it soon. i went off roading with the mild rub so idc haha.
Actually, they will self clear the plastic as the rub continues.
