I thought I was going to leave this thing stock, use it as a DD since I already have a project car, but we all know how that works out.

xterra1.jpg

Bone stock '03 SC with 53k miles,

airboxhack.jpg

First thing done, same thing I do to every car and that is hack the airbox (nissans are very receptive to this), also plugged the resonator while I was in there. I check the filter all the time, have never even seen mud on it, knock the dust off of it every once in awhile, but it doesn't get half as dirty as I expected, but still beware of deep water or mud.

iatrelo.jpg

Gotta relocate the IAT sensor when you do this, some wire, heat shrink and a new hole, good to go.

rearrecovery.jpg

Some tow hooks for the rear, same 3 hole hooks as up front, bolted right up.

img00013201003051536.jpg

Friend got me a Xoskel light cage for christmas, so that meant some lights, KC daylighters, 2 100w fog, 2 130w driving.

img00004dw.jpg

Used a Bussmann fuse/relay box for the wiring, this thing is awesome and weathertight

img00012201003051535.jpg

Rockhumper Fabworx sliders, got these made and installed by Richard himself, right before he want on a fab Hiatus.

img00029201004030849.jpg

Found some SLR staged UCA's, finished up with AC 3 pack AAL, Bilstein HD's and 5100's. Obviously not going to work with the AC lift shackles, so they had to come off for stockers.

IMG_1956.jpg

Back to a normal stance, now with 285/70/17 Goodyear Wrangler MT/R's (kevlar), took some trimming up front, little bit of metal included, but no body lift.

img00105201012311322.jpg

I think somethings wrong here.

img00102201012111133.jpg

AC Long tube headers (Stainless Steel and Tig welded) I also installed walker '00 Fed downpipes (no secondary cats) and already had a Nismo Catback installed.

img00103201012111404.jpg

DEI Titanium wrap (really just pulverized lava rock, none of the itchiness of fiberglass wrap)

img00100201012111132.jpg

If your supercharged, or blocking off your EGR, get one of these from nissan part number 14052-21R00 (OEM EGR PLUG)

superwinchepi9.jpg

Then I bought a winch, and only had a vague idea what I was going to do with it. Superwinch EPi 9.0 (integrated sealed solenoids in the bridge)

img00113201102081124.jpg

Then I came up with a mounting setup, the original...bolt on stealth setup.

img00114201102081124.jpg

img00115201102081124.jpg

Fully gusseted and TIG welded by a guy that builds chromoly tube frame drag cars

img00122201102101415.jpg

Thats it for now, just been wheeling it and driving the piss out of it. Bought in 9/09 with 53k miles, now 11/11 and 92k miles. Has never left me stranded, and the only things that have broke have been has been torn motor mounts and cracked manifolds. I am getting ready to do some test fitting for a oem nissan big brake setup, going to try VG35 pathfinder rotors (300x30mm) with Skyline gts-t calipers (what I have on my 240, 4 piston aluminum with a 296x32mm rotors)

Lots of other little stuff I never bothered to take pics of, like the SLR diff drop, Grassroots centerlink with bandit 4x4 idler arm bushings, extended brake lines. Other than that I need some skidplates and 4.90s (or 5.14's) and a locker and I will be happy.

Im guessing the winch was clockable? So you could turn the the switch from the front?

Good eye, and yea the free spool knob section and the brake end are fully clockable (well as long as the bolt holes line up) but both sections rotate all the way around

So I uh "stealthed" out my headliner...

Digital Red Urban Camo, close up of the pattern.

I'm glad I paid a shop to do it, i've tried headliners before and it didn't end well, so I pulled it out and took to a shop up the street, he did an excellent job. When I first picked it up, I started thinking it might be too much, but once I got it back in, well it looks badass. I'm thinking about pulling the transfer case shifter boot and having it done as well.

All I can say is SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!! $286 shipped, all 4 BNIB (3 of the 4 look like they have never been opened). Got a lead on a 5th, one of the dealers in town supposedly has one hanging on display in the service department, waiting to hear back if they will sell it for me (if anyone else has a lead on just one, new or used let me know)

May be awhile until we can, and at that price I don't care too much if I do. Still have to get tires, and I don't want to sell my SC wheels. Thinking about jumping up to a 305/65/16 but that may require some more massaging.

Good looking X sir. If I read you build correctly it looks as if you lifted it and then dropped it back down, if this is correct can you tell us why you did that? Did you have issues with the lift setup or something?

Already had AC shackles and then added the 3 PC AAL from AC, and it raised the rear end entirely too high, like 4.5-5"+, it pretty much had the stock rubber rear brake line pulled tight. I already had the front as high as I could go and still get it aligned, so I swapped the AC shackles for the stockers. I think the rear still has more than 3" of lift, but just slightly if so, and now it at least has a normal rake.

Crown Nissan wouldn't sell me the display wheel they had

I was at the pull a part near my house this morning yanking some VH45 stuff for the 240sx, when my boss called and was like you need to get to the one over by work, I just stuck your 5th nismo wheel in the back of a red hardbody. So yea, I got wheel #5 for $56, would of been cheaper if I could of gotten the tire off, but i'm not complaining, its in good shape and still has the center cap. All the others were MIA, said he searched all over for them.

Yea, just one though, we couldn't find the rest. Never in a million years did I think I would find one there.

So did the spark plugs today, NGK laser iridiums, and NGK wires, OEM Nissan cap and rotor. I think this may have had just a little part to play in my misfire...Seems to have a bit more pep now.
img2012031000334.jpg
.
The one on the left the electrode is cracked, the right its eroded/melted, there were 3 like that, guess 95k miles on the original platinums is pretty good though.

Not as bad as a job as I expected, spark plug socket with a built in swivel made everything easy, well that and kneeling on the supercharger itself. The wires were a bigger PITA than the plugs, getting enough leverage to lock the boots in place was the hard part.

I'm digging your rig, man. Love the stock bumper with the stealth winch mount (like you haven't heard that before!) and all the other little details that make it a clean, well thought out trail buster. Keep it up.

So I want to ask a question? What makes these Nismo rims so high? I seen some one selling some in Nashville for 1200.00
I remember a year or two back on CX some one asking 1800 for some.

Is there something special about them?

They are forged aluminum, not cast like most of the aluminum wheels out there (both stock and aftermarket). So they are not only lighter, but they are also the strongest/toughest. They are made by Rays Engineering, which is probably the best Japanese wheel maker, so there is a bit of a premium there. I know list on them from Nissan is ~$500 a piece, and a lot of dealers clearanced them out a couple years ago so they are hard to find new at this point.

Tires installed on wheels (285/75/16 MTR kevlars again) going to wait until it I replace all the TRE's and lower ball joints and realign the truck before I put them on though, may take a poser shot with them tomorrow.

I ordered the nismo valve stem for the spare but it didn't come in at the same time as all my timing belt parts, so I said eff it, now i'm kicking myself because it doesn't match the rest haha.

Did they really put a weight on those wheels!?

Haha yea, I went back and forth, but I decided that I would probably be constantly losing sticky weights, if I paid list price I definitely wouldn't be using hammer on weights.
