I am about to start my projector hid retrofit on my '01 I have not ordered anything I just have the funding coming in very soon.

Okay people I know there is one thread about the how to but what's everyone think. Throw ideas at me about what might be cool.

Halos or no?
What bulb size?
Color?
What to wire to?
Shroud?

You get the idea.

I will also be making another how to once I get to doing this.

My personal opinion is that halos are lame and anything above a 6000K color temperature looks ridiculous and doesn't light the road as well. But whatever makes you happiest is the way to go. My brother-in-law loves that bluish/purple tint to the higher color temps, and he doesn't care how much I rag him for it. To each his own, you know?

Indeed.

Above 6k and it does nothing more than look blue, purple, or pink. It is actually bad on your eyes in inclement weather.

I have no affiliation to these people but give TheRetrofitSource guys a call. They're very knowledgable and can point you in the right direction.

http://www.theretrofitsource.com/

I had a conversation with them this afternoon at a local event and help me finalize what I want to do and what I need to order.

Oh yeah they are definitely who I am using I know that but I just don't know what I'm ordering yet

I didn't get halos...they are cool but I didn't think they fit a 4x4 truck very well. I got the Morimoto Stage III kit and just used the Mini Gatling gun shrouds that come with it. H1 is the only bulb that fits with it and I went with 5000K bulbs they light very well and are pure white.

The relay that comes with the kit is good quality and pretty simple to wire as its all plug and play

These look so mean. Like some deranged man looking for his daughter.. The kind that busts open the door with a 12 gage, ready to bring no mercy upon anyone in his tracks..

Anyway.. I like them

Sent from somewhere by something

Haha thats a very creative way of describing the look I was going for

The light output on those housings before you put the projectors in is worse than absolutely awful haha I can't even describe how bad they are. Obviously once you put the projectors in they are amazing

i am in the process of retrofitting my 2nd gen headlights. I have ebay projectors now, but have put morimoto's in the stock housings. i am playing w/ paint right now. i'll get some pics up to give you some ideas.

the mini gatling gun shrouds should fit no problem, the regular gatling gun shrouds are BIG.

I ended up just going with the Mini Gatling Guns that come with the kit because I didn't want anything to oversized but before I made that decision I was either going to get the full size Gatling Gun, G37-R, or the Panamera

i'd love to fit full size gatling guns in there, but there just isn't that much room w/o carving them all to hell.

I guess just post YEAH or NO and why

Opinions people I need opinions I'm torn between the two ideas. Even if you have spoken before let me know if the mock up has changed your mind or reaffirmed your previous stance on halos

My original plan was to get full size shrouds and put the halo inside the shroud so it would be in the pattern of the cutouts. This is a Gatling Gun shroud with halos inside

shroud1.jpg

the only reason I ended up not doing it was because I didn't want to spend the extra money on the shrouds and halos.

My opinion is if you go with halos to put them on the inside of the shroud

Yea you can do it with the mini. When you mark that you want them when ordering they make sure you get the right size for them. Im not exactly sure how they stay inside the shroud since I didn't get them so you'll have to play around with it but Id imagine a little glue would be enough to hold it. Im not really sure if the full size shrouds would fit or not in the housing. I have a good bit of room in my housings but I don't really know how big the full size are compared to the minis.

I don't know if you've talked to them yet but the guys there are really good to deal with and helpful. I blew out a ballast because I hooked up the relay the wrong way (dumb mistake) and I had a new one a couple days later.

NO! you can NOT fit angel eyes inside of the MINI gatling gun shrouds. the mini shrouds acutally bolt to the projector. the columns where the bolts go makes it so that you can't fit a CCFL or LED angel in it.

Full size shrouds actually mount around the lense, allowing you to fit a circular angel eye in it. flip the mini gatling gun shroud around and you'll see the columns that i am talking about.
