I've seen it just looking around on the internet on other 4x4 vehicles. Instead of the hole being really close to the air intake you plumb it farther away before bringing it onto the fender. After that point it looks just like a normal snorkel.

I talked to Luke about this a few weeks ago. Making it so you can remove the snorkel and have it be a filtered direct air intake.

I know the one I put on Terra (Navarra snorkel) plumbs in farther back than the one Drb has, which essentially comes straight out from the intake. I do think it would be optimal to have a switch-out for a low-profile intake. Steeze fabbed one of those out of fiberglass that was pretty cool. The only issue I see with it in my application is it was a beeatch to get the nuts onto the bolts into the snork from behind the fender where there is no space for chubby hands....

I know right now there's a GB going on w/ Airflow Snorks... I think they are running $385. To me, that just too much. I'll never actually use it, just looks bad arse. If I knew someone who could mold me one and make one out of fiberglass, I would certainly do that.

I paid 3 and change for the one I put on my old YJ. It was an actual ARB. It came w/ actual instructions, a legitimate template, and hardware to move things under the hood and make all the connections. There's a lot to be said for the kit actually coming with everything you need and not having to rig something up.

This. Although I made mine work and there's something to be said for "do it yourself," instructions and that would have been nice.

The only problem I have committing to a snorkel, is that I have a Volant CAI with a huge opening that rests against the engine bay fender.

I sent volant an email requesting a solution and still waiting for a reply.

I too have the Volant CAI on mine. Same issue-open on one side with that little cushiony edge that butts against the fender wall where opening is.

How to seal that other wise the connection to the Volant box is moot--just run hose through existing hole, patch and seal around the hole around hose, and silicone edges of Volant to the fender wall where it meets? (IE use the fender wall as one side of the "box")

OK some questions. Guys who did the Apollo air flter mod: where did you put your MAS AF Sensor? How about the smaller one that plugs in the box? I do see that hooked into the apollo - its the MAS that worries me the most.

Also anyone interested in used volant CAI when and if I do this mod?

Thanks,

Lee
