Rig is coming along great. That rack was awesome. Looked huge compared to some of the premade ones online for some reason. Keep up the good work, man!

Sent using highly technical equipment involving satelites and space and nerds.....lots of nerds...

Thanks I probably made it bigger the those pre made ones but I wanted full roof space for the rack and the material was a little heavy for it but if I make another I can change that.

Next on the list is a custom rear protection to replace those stupid plastic ones. Since the sas is put on temp hold till more funds come in

It will hold up just as well as the those plastic ones. Lol

I just have decided what thickness of steel to use yet.

I'm really digging this. Getting plenty of storage utility without sacrificing the ability to place large objects in the back. Awesome work man. They look pretty solid, too. I'd love to do something a little more permanent and sturdy in the back of my truck, other than just having my tool boxes laying in there. Everything flings or bounces around when I wheel. Was thinking about ditching the carpet back there and putting some track in so I could make shelves.

With those cages you could also take on side jobs of small animal trapping and relocating =P haha.

Thanks. That was my thought when I designed them. I still wanted to use the cargo area for big stuff and use the underneath storage and since ya can't really use the side for anything useful. They keep everything tie down and no noise which is nice.

The nice thing about the cage part is I can make them so they are solid so they can't be seen in and lockable for the things you don't want people to see you have.

I'm really liking those, man! May have to look into doing something like this later on down the road.

So this what else I've been working on. It's a replacement for the plastic lower corners. It's bit of mess right now cause I'm cutting out all by hand and fitting as I go. It's all 3/16 plate steel.

Nice...

I've been putting this mod off for a long time... I know it's going to be an extensive amount of metal work. I too cut everything with a grinder one piece at a time. Are you putting steps in it?

From the looks of it your kinda staying with the original shape and look... are you deviating any?

Oh and how are you mounting them?

You're motivating me to start on mine now...

I'm gonna deviate from the original design quite a bit... and I'm gonna use diamond plate. Definitely doing a step... and definitely going to make them wicked looking.

Thanks guys

No step but with the way I have it coming straight out and not following the body line it will give me a step. I always hated the stock step where it was.

I'm sorta stay with the stock shape but the side comes in at a little more of angle and the rear will tie into the rear bumper. The big thing is the bigger bottom area that will help protect the body if I come off something big.

As for mounting I'm gonna make something that will go where that metal piece for the stock step is. Then it will have a mounting point to the frame where the bumper mounts. I haven't got any further than that but we will see.

Oh one thing I'm gonna add is a set of lights that will be set back in the rear. Sorta rock lights... I think that will better then the ones on the top.

So you'll see what comes out of it all. I may even tie everything front to rear together. Then my conversion to put all this armor to better use lol.

So after some thinking today I was thinking about cutting some of the rear corner to give more tire room. But haven't figured how far I should cut it. I guess we will see what happens

There's gonna be some space between the body and the lowers. And it's gonna be a bolt on. Probably to the bumper and the body

So since I can't work on my sas right now and I'm bored I've decided on to move my light switches to up to above the windshield below the interior light box. And I'm going to be replacing the stock nut things with real nuts welded to the roof. And this is all started with a rattle in roof rack. And boredom. And there is a surprise too :D

I'm interested in how that looks with the headliner in. I like my switches up top. Makes me feel like a helicopter pilot LOL
