Thanks for the info! I called Steve at Rugged Rocks and we collectively figured it out. The guy selling it said it was out of a '95 and wouldn't budge at all off his $100 price, even though it said OBO lol... Oh well, at least I know definitively what to look for now. Since you mentioned it though, is a cable driven speed sensor compatible for me? I'm assuming I'd need to look for one that had the electronic sensor.

Is the front axle too old for a SAS setup?

To answer this question, no. You can always throw in new bearings and seals as you'll need to regear the axle anyway. Then with some new u-joints it will be good as new.


And lots of guys use high pinion d44's and d60's out of late 70's fords for solid axle swaps and buggy builds.

Yea, I mean you can easily get one of those camper topper things and just make the truck off road and done. The inside gadgets and gizmo's must be super fancy for that price
