Ha ha, I've love to catalog mine. Forget photos though, I'd just like to know for sure what I have. I started very young like you, and had a wonderful Aunt that gave me most of my collection as literally old bottles she and my uncle threw their pennies in many years ago. I loved to pick through them, with every penny I wished for a clean 1909 S VDB. My parents got me those cardboard books, and I actually have several with very few empty spaces. (I could fill a lot more out of loose coins.)
I need to look at mine to mention the more interesting coins, I have several odd ones. I probably have thousands of wheat pennies. The bulk being from the 20's I think. Even so my most valuable examples are probably only worth $10-$20, not like I'm going to retire off them, but that ain't bad appreciation for a 1 cent coin.
I have several 1909 VDB stamped (None from SF mint darn it.) I have a lot of 30's coins that literally look freshly minted. I have several 1800's coins. I actually recently though about going through them. When I get my transfer case off the workbench, I may take that on during the winter.
My favorite thing about coin collecting is I can completely forget about it, yet they just sit there and gain value. Nothing has been abandoned, wasted, unfinished, they are just doing their thing, and I can come back to them any time.
I have considered selling off the bulk of my excess coins, because I do have many multiples of a lot of years/mints. I would like to keep what I have to be well rounded, but I don't need the gobs of duplicates.
If your into the wheat (1909-1958) pennies, let me know, we can do some trading. I'd like to add some different stuff, maybe go big time and start collecting nickles and dimes.
