Albuquerque Meet and Greet

Hello!

From what I have seen, there are at least a couple of fellow Albuquerque X owners on here and probably a few other general New Mexicans. I think it'd be awesome to meet you guys and check out your rigs, get advice, hang out, etc. I'm not sure if anyone would be wiling to host something at their place, I totally would but my house and parking are fairly small. Perhaps a good restaurant would work? Any suggestions are certainly welcome!

When are you thinking? Mine is going to be out of commission for a couple months, but if we turn this into a regular thing, it'd be cool and I'd be down to make a trip up there this spring.

I've been meaning to set something up - but let's get through the holidays first! Me and Rokdaddy are here in burque, and there are a few more, including guys on TNX. Stay tuned after New Years....

You can have it at my place if you want.

My driveway can accommodate about ten or twelve rigs while still allowing folks to come and go. We had eleven rigs when we had a Toyota get together a few months ago. No two vehicles were more than ten feet apart so it was easy to check out everyone's rigs. My shop and Bev's studio combined are about the size of a four car garage and could offer a semi-heated area that still has easy access to the driveway. The deck isn't all that bad either.

Bev and I are willing to cover food as well. Maybe put a brisket in the smoker the night before and throw some chickens on that day?

Not tryin' to infringe on your plans, Mac... just thought I would throw out the offer.

I can't wait to show off my shiny new shovel.

No prob - that sounds great. And what's the other dude's name that works near you...he's on here somewhere...Eric? I think it's Eric...

Glad to hear about the shovel. Any plans on keeping it in the vehicle?

Hey if you're ever around Ruidoso and see a kick-arse gen1 that bears a striking resemblance to the one in my sig...get em to join up and/or get contact info for em. I can't for the life of me remember their names, other than the wife was Morgan, and they seemed really psyched to have Terra...

Remind me to shoot him an email once we firm up a date. He works in a different division now but I should be able to look him up.

Like you said in the other thread... baby steps. I often have to do dumb things twice before I remember to never do it again.

I love the enthusiasm for this to happen! So awesome. I like and agree with the idea of doing it after the holidays, and Rok if you're cool with hosting I'll definitely pitch for and/or bring food, beverage, whatever we'll need. I'm a sooner than later type of gentleman so maybe late January-ish?

I'll definitely keep my eye out! I plan on running up there as soon as mine is done, so maybe we'll spot each other. Won't be until early Feb though.

I was looking at the calender for a good day to do this and wanted to throw it out there for approval -------- March 1st.

It's a Saturday, might be decent temperature and weather, and gives people plenty of time to plan and prepare.

From the intelligence gathered over a couple different threads, it sounds like March 22nd, 2014 will be a good day to do this. Still plenty of time before Moab, rigs should be getting finalized with mods, and the weather should be gorgeous. What do you guys think?

Awaiting confirmation later today, but it appears my trial at the end of February is going away, making me much more available. That said, I think March 15 might be the first weekend of March Madness, in which case you might have to meet me and greet me in Las Vegas....

Just found out today that I will be on business travel for most of the rest of this month. I may be in ABQ for a weekend or two but I won't know for sure 'till mid-day each Friday. I'm still willing to work something out if we can but February may be a pain in the azz for me.

March is probably good. The project that we are working on has a drop dead delivery date of March 1st. We have to have our stuff done a few days before that so another group can do their part; that pretty much ensures that I'll be done before March. My schedule should be pretty open after that; I'm not a fancy-pants lawyer with a serious sports addiction... ahem...

Awesome, I hope the project turns out good for you guys. And yeah, I've only known a handful of people that go out to Vegas for the tournament. Even less if they're Lobo fans

We should probably throw in a little Cedro Peak run, since Rok lives right up the road from the trail head (it's stock friendly, not a rig-beater) and it has some optional obstacles for Cap'n to test his new SAS. March 22 is probably good for me, better than the 15th, but whatever.

Awesome, I'd love to try out Cedro Peak. I google'd it see what it was like and I guess they run an ultra marathon on it?!?! Crazy stuff. But that's a fantastic idea, especially if it's close to the Rok HQ.

Sooooooo.... Can we agree on March 22nd for date? I'm itching to meet you guys in person (except Rok, already did) and check out everyone's rig. Especially Cap'n. MMMMmmmmmm.... That SAS....

I ended up getting into a class I have been waiting a year to get into in Virginia, but it's from the 17th - 28th... Would it be possible to do this on the 15th? If not, I would have to wait until the next one. But if the 22nd is good for everyone else and I'm the only one who can't make it, go for it, and if it goes well maybe we can setup another one in April?

Don't think I can do the 15th or 16th. I've been traveling for work every other week and my weekends have been filling up quickly.

Crue... when do you want to install your steering stuff? I was assuming that would be sometime in the next couple of weeks. Maybe we should push this back a few weeks so Cap'n get his rig back from Cali, we can dial in your lift and I'll wrap some things up as well so I can move the Sleeper out of the garage under it's own power and give us room to hang out.

I'll be hopping on a plane in the morning but y'all can still get a hold of me here or by text.

Sounds good to me Rok, all my parts will finish coming in by or on Friday. I just got the bushings in today and the IAB was slated for a Friday delivery. Whatever of the coming weeks works best for you lemme know. Sounds like you've been pretty busy so whenever is convenient for you I can make happen on my end. As for the meet up, it'd be obviously awesome if we can all make it and it sounds like March is slowly fading out, and with Cap'n trucking up from alamogordo on 37's I can't imagine that's fun gas wise. Hell, GONE is only a couple months away, that may be our best shot lol. And I really really hope I can still make that happen.

If the 22nd works for you guys, don't worry about changing it on my account. You guys could always do a mod day to get Crue's steering stuff done and get Rok's sleeper up to snuff that way he can make it to Gone ;)

Who says we can't do a couple of these? What would you think about 1st weekend in April?

Very cool. Let's keep in touch this week and maybe we can tweak your lift or install your steering stuff this weekend.

That sounds perfect to me. That way Crue and I can work on our rigs for the next couple of weekends and it allows Cap'n and NMterras to tend to their own plans. What do you guys think about doing this on the 5th or 6th?

The 5th or 6th sound great to me and this weekend for modding sounds excellent. You bring up a good point cap, we can definitely do a few of these through the year.

I'll be there. :kewl:

One thing though... it's against my religious beliefs to be awake before 9:30 on my days off. The only exceptions are Christmas Day, the weekend of the Master's Tournament and the week of goneMOAB. How 'bout 10:30 or 11? That will give us a little time in the morning to get things ready (ie. lunch snacks).

Also, I will running Cedro in 2WD (with air locker) if we go that day. I'm waiting 'till after the get together to start the front axle rebuild.

See y'all there.

10:30 or 11 sounds great. More time to sleep in lol. Cedro peak for sure, I wanna get some pictures of us all up there and shed tears of happiness as Captain just chugs along up it
