this thread is tempting me. I've been contemplating selling the short bus and taking the proceeds to buy a daily driver and a trail xj. mpgs suck in the x and i can't beat it on the trails because i have to drive it to work on monday.

DAMN YOU TEMPTATION!!!

thanks everyone! XJ's are great, it's hard to go wrong with them. However, I did love my xterra, but my XJ gets 20mpg on the highway which is a lot better than my x. But, If I had the money I would have just kept the X too!

One of my best friends has a lifted XJ. And while it's only moderately lifted and only running 31s it's very capable.

My problem with it is worth fold. 1) reliability. I can't count the number of times I've heard "I can't, the Jeep is broken."

The 2nd is space. I've driven it. I feel like I'm driving a big wheel. I'm not a small guy no even with the seat ALL the way back, I just feel cramped.

I can attest to this. A couple of my wheeling buddies have XJs, another with a WJ, and I wanted to do some wheeling this weekend but everybody couldn't because their Jeep was messed up..

Keep in mind.. These are younger kids who don't have the nicest Jeeps around but still....

Yea, the space thing I definitely understand. Before the new seats I could hardly drive it I was so uncomfortable. Now it's much better, lots of leg and head room, but that was primarily from cutting the seat bracket down.

As far as reliability goes, it's been about the same as my X, both have problems that will pop up now and then.

Built a tire carrier for my jeep over the past 2 weeks. My dad got a tube bender for christmas so it made this process a lot quicker than with my xterra. I used ruffstuff specialties spindle and 1.75" DOM, mounted on a jeep hub so the tire can spin freely. Pretty happy with how it turned out! Ill post some better pics tomorrow

Hey guys, been on mostly just lurking at all the build threads lately but thought I'd do a little update. Welded some corner wrap arounds to my bumpers and coated them in raptor liner, taking it out next weekend to some trails to give the jeep a workout. I really liked using the raptor liner, hopefully this stuff holds up and I'll be doing a lot of other things with it. Here are some pics

Roof rack built for my Cherokee by Alvarez Metal Works out of Syracuse, NY. Normally I like to build my own stuff but this guy did a really nice rack build on his pathfinder and I just had to have one.

Did a Projector retrofit this week. I was sick of the terrible light output from the Rampage H4's. I used Mini H1 projectors, Apollo 2.0 shrouds, greenish/yellow behind projector is a white halo.

Just put them in yesterday, light output is great, really happy with how it came out. Also smoked out the light bars and parks with some tint, just waiting on some more for the side turn signals. I like this tint so far it doesn't seem to take away any light and I like the blacked out look a little better.
