Wet box molding

The molding on the front of the wetbox (2013 S) fell off. I found that the part is not available from Nissan, unless I want to buy a whole new wetbox assembly for a measly $1200-obviously not an option.

My question is this: is that strip of rubber important for any reason? I have no problem leaving it off, it doesn't cause wind noise or otherwise make itself obnoxious.

If I have to replace it somehow, my first thought is to just use silicone caulk, I think I could get it so it wouldn't be too ugly. I might be able to get some screen door weatherstripping that might work. Anybody have any other options I might consider?

Brunnie- thanks for steering me to Amazon, I don't think I would have found the right search term without difficulty. Got a roll of the 6 mm (the 8 mm would have worked fine also), it installed quickly and easily once I cleaned the old molding out of the crack. Results were good, I'm not ashamed of how it looks, anyway...
