Not a ruler, a tape measure. Front of the front tires, edge to edge, same thing at the same height in the rear of the front tires. You want to be a 1/4 inch or so closer in the front than in the rear, then get it to the alignment shop. Ideal toe is about an 1/8 of an inch total, but with the tape measure I like to err on the side of caution because you don't want to have negative toe. Adjust your tie rod adjusters to get there, try to be even on both sides --> you can measure the distance between the jam nuts if you're not comfortable eyeballing it
