Upper Control Arm Question!

Hello! I have a question about which part I should buy. This is my current set up. In the front I have a ARB bumper with warn winch and OME 2608 HD coils, I recently purchased a Billet PRG Lift spacer and shackles for the back. The problem is it wouldn't fit back to the upper control arm. I think because of the HD coils, what would I need to buy to fix this problem? Upper Control arms? If so which ones would you recommend? Would the SPC upper control arms fix my problem?

Do you having pictures of this issue? Im trying to understand why it wouldn't fit back.
Is this a top plate spacer or the type that sits in between the spring and top plate?

It is a top spacer! the kind that doesn't affect the pre load. I mean it would have to be something to do with the Coils because I mean well thats basically the only thing it could be! lol  what do you think?

The problem is that you have maxed your down travel. You didn't say what size spacer, but I am assuming 2". Couple that with the extra lift of the springs and your LCA is pushed so far down that you cant get the ball joint in the spindle. That being said, if you compress the spring you will be able to bolt it up. Problem being that with that much sus lift your UCA will be in constant contact with the coils bucket.

Long term, yes new UCAs short term, either springs or spacers...not both.

Works well in theory. I haven't done it myself, but it should at least work. Going that far, I would go ahead and put Titan UCAs and LCAs with tie rod extenders. The Spc arms will work, but it still wont be ideal.

You're really over pushing the limits of an xterra suspension. 2.5 is usually biggest recommended 3 maximum. Unless you spend money on good UCA&Coilover package.

If you do the Titan parts you also need extended axle shafts.
In theory the SPC UCA's should help.

Yes slas is correct, I forgot about the shafts. I guess I am more of a 2WD specialist. The reason I know this is because I crammed a 3" spacer in mine.

Okay well let me ask you this. Lets say you have a xterra with an ARB Bumper/winch, in your opinion what would be the best way to lift it 2 in.

That is MY opinion. There would be many on this. Some will say adjustable coilovers and that is the BEST way. They just aren't very economical.

"Best way to lift" is not the real question. Lifting, in of itself, just raises your ride height....so, if all you want is to raise the ride height, the cheapest lift that does that might be "best".

If you want the most wheel travel, then other factors come into play as to what's "Best"....as in replacing the entire IFS with a live axle might be "Best", if you want the most articulation, etc....but be very expensive, etc.

Swapping on Titan parts would be a step down from that.

Replacing UCA/LCA might be a srep down from that, and so forth.

gotcha, thanks!

Even though I have HD springs?

Correct, it will net the right amount of lift and the hd springs will support the bumper. It does get tricky compressing that spring enough to bolt the UCA to the Spindle though. When I did my 3" spacer I put a jack stand under the LCA and let the lift down until pretty much all the trucks weight was on that corner.

Awesome! Right now the front of the xterra might be a inch higher in the front so what I plan on doing is putting the 1in spacer on the front and put 2 in shackles in the back to level it out. What do you think?

My shackles didn't yield that much lift. It allowed the springs to say more and I didn't get good lift until the AAL. Sounds like you are on the right track though.

Okay last question! What in your option is a good way to lift the rear of the xterra? Something that won't kill the drive quality.

Impossible question, everything changes the ride quality. I guess it depends on what you plan to do with it. Towing, crawling, mall crawling, etc.
