So from talking to Hyde the other day I figured I would make a thread. What ideas do y'all have about upgrading the IFS instead of doing a SAS? Obviously don't just say TS unless you are gonna have more then just the standard basic TS.

I assume we are talking gen2? I'm running total chaos uppers with radflos on 35s, and I haven't seen any TS rigs do anything I can't do. SoCal Terry is running a long travel kit, with the extended half shafts from his r180. Dirt King sells a long travel kit, it's expensive.

well....I did have an awesome idea, but, now apparently I can't find the sources I was looking at.

Dana60 IFS front diff, Dana60 Rear axle, custom long travel arms and CV shafts for the front, and a double triangulated rear with coilovers mounted in a very "creative" manner. I won't be giving away details on that part, just, well, trust that I've fully tested the design on scale crawlers and there was less than 2mm of "slop" which didn't effect a 40lb 1/6th scale RC crawler screaming 75mph down the road, absolutely zero movement other than when I'd tell it to steer.

once I find links for the parts, I'll post em up....but, the rear suspension setup, she shall remain secret until which time I make it happen ;)

I didn't say you had to give that plan I just know you have put alot of thought into and have more ideas regarding beefing the IFS then most of us do.

Well, apparently either the company I thought I'd been planning on sourcing from no longer makes the front diff I wanted, or, I'm simply unable to keep track of whom it was...

But, I found this perfectly acceptable replacement ;)

http://www.proformance.com.au/IFS_IRS_Differential.html

They make a D60 diff that's H1/HMMWV style and sized, super narrow, for stupidly long arms mated with nice coilovers and possibly even portal hubs ;)

Inboarded brakes also an option...

I know the actual mounting points for the front control arms upper and lowers are fairly weak, so when you hit something with your tire and it pushed the tire back it's actually bending the mount, which causes your steering to go "out of alignment". My suggestion would be to reinforce the mounts with gussets of some sort.
