Timing chain guides

So my wife and I have been thinking about possibly trading her altima for a pathfinder, 05+, I know about the milkshake of death, and what to look far there as far as tranny and radiator fluid, But my other concern is the timing chain guides, Is this just a hit or miss type thing? if they have been replaced are they using better longer lasting guides?

I have tried doing my research but the pathfinder forums are really terrible, I joined thenissanpath.com and they just seem unfriendly

Its a hit or miss problem. There are trucks with over 200000 miles that didn't have the problem but trucks with 20000 miles have had the issue. The replacement parts are better.

Yeah, I have not had any problems with the guides and currently have over 114,000. However, I will advise you that after purchase, it would be wise to just replace the radiator with a different one. They are very faulty in every way possible. Mine just cracked the other day for no reason. So, just a word of advice.

I gotta say doing the timing chain on two different Xterras both around the 100,000 mile mark the timing chain guides looked good and had no problems. But on the other hand when I go back in around the 200,000 I would think about replacing all the chains, tensioners and guides but that is just me.
