Switched Power To Console Outlet?

Does anybody know if there is a way to change the power outlet in the center console to be switched power only coming on with the key instead of being direct power always on as mine is now? Switched power would suit my use better. 2004 Gen1 Thanks

You could probably just wire in a toggle switch. Then you could switch it on if you needed hot with the key off. I like mine hot all the time because I can leave my phone plugged in and charging if I have to run into the store or something. Anyway, there should be room for a switch in there.

Could do that. But I'm trying to eliminate user error by the dummy who forgets to shut the switch off...and I'm that user/dummy. Was hoping someone has done it before and would give me an answer like "put a 30 amp fuse in empty space 12 then remove fuse 35 and run a jumper from the right side of fuse 12 to the right side of 35." I suppose I can go figure something like that out for myself but don't want to reinvent the wheel if it's already been done. But if it comes to that I'll figure out a hack and post it here.

It's actually pretty easy to do with a relay. I added an outlet and 2 usb ports to mine, in addition to the default outlet.

Splice into the power wire for the radio, and use that to trigger the relay.
