Suggestions on head unit that works with 5s

I like how my current one works with my 4s. It's an older pioneer unit with USB.
I can control everything with my phone or the head unit but audio playback works with any audio through USB (Siri, maps, YouTube, music etc)

I would assume (I know) that it it works with the 4, it'll work with the 5. Yes, the connector is different, but its still the same data set going through the USB.

Except the port went from analog to digital, so, it's *not* a safe assumption that because it worked on a 4/4S that it'll work on anything newer...

My head unit is using a std iPhone 30 pin (read: USB+/- and DC) and plays audio through it. Apple is embedding audio in the USB data stream, and I don't see why they would remove that from the API.

30 pin was an analog connection, lightning is 8 pin digital connection, per apple. When they launched the lightning connector that was one of their big things...

Still USB.

Someone with a 5, please go and test this. For the ones who are still alive.

Ill test it when I get a 5S. My current deck works with 4s for the most part.
It was an iPod deck but plays audio from any launched app.

my pioneer deck works fine with my 5 I used to use an iPod touch, and I've used my girlfriends 4s plenty of times. all you need is the different usb cord for the 5/5s. I have a pioneer DEH-7300BT if that helps

I just used my charging cord for my iPhone 5, just plugged it into the USB port like I did with my old cord for my iPod touch/4s.

Most often it does work, but, that's why I point it out, sometimes, they don't, and when they don't, it's bad.

Not really sure what to do. If I find out that mine works there wouldn't be much point in a new single din.
Are there any double dins that can mirror your phone or use the phones GPS?
