Steering wheel question

Can the plastic pieces on the steering wheel just be popped out or do you have to take off the whole steering wheel? (to the left and right of the horn/air bag, where the cruise control switches are).

I need to paint mine, and I really do not want to take the steering wheel off!!!

From what I remember when I did the spiral cable,Those are held in with screws. Airbag does have to be removed. I don’t think wheel has to come off. Hope this helps

If you pop off the plastic backs to the cruise and radio controls it's two phillips screws to remove them and two 10mm bolts for the airbag removal, be sure to disconnect your battery!
