Spark plugs and a knock!

Ok, I put new plugs in and now I have a severe tick in the valves, was exact replacement because I checked before I put them in. Did I over tighten them or something? I pulled them all back out and they look like everything is fine. I even put the old ones back in and got the same result. Did I just junk my motor? :weep:

the two are un related, the spark plug has no relation to the valve train at all. They are two separate systems all together. It was just a chance that the two things happened at the same time.

That being said go check your oil level, and condition.

We have hydraulic valve lifters, so air may have found its way in. Also, they're notorious for being noisy at startup.

Ok, I went out this morning and checked the oil, (which was fine) then started it up. I am a pretty decent mechanic with at least 25 years of wrenching different things under my belt. This sounds like a collapsed lifter, or a bent valve to me.

You can hear that it stopped doing whatever it was doing. I got in the truck and drove it around the block. Then I drove it around town. Then I went out of town up some steep long climbs. No knock, but still had the stutter that Im going to assume is the distributor since I have replaced everything else. Im open to suggestions.

That sounds more like a tensioner that has or very soon will spit bearings, that does not sound like lifters to me, more rotational and on the front of the motor.

Where does it sound like its coming from to you. its hard to tell from the vid. Possibly a bearing on one of the pulleys. It seemed liked your engine bogged a couple of times like the ac was kicking on and it would get worse after that happened.

Actually it sounded like it was in the valvetrain to me or maybe the distributor. When it bogged down, thats just what it does since I guess the Idle air control valve is giving me a code. I drove it to work with no problems then to lunch with no problems.
