Its funny cause it's true! As an ex employee of a rental car place with green and white letters I can tell you even the employees beat the snot out of the cars. I crashed a brand new caddie on the way to its first rental in a gas station parking lot and totaled a Dodge Durango into a empty school bus accelerating too hard around a hair pin turn loaded with road sand. The last straw was a driving to endanger charge in a Chevy Blazer on the Mass Pike racing another employee in the breakdown lane. Oops. You're only allowed 3 moving violations in a three year period and I got all three in one year...funny thing is I haven't (knock on wood) had a single ticket or accident since leaving there in 2000. :D

I checked it out hard, and it was certified by Courtesy Nissan. It also only had 22k on it. That's besides the point. Whenever I rent a car someday I'm going to get sideways :D

Try the curvy hilly backroads in the Washington, DC area. Now those road are FUN to drift and get some air time on....when in a rental car. :)

I just reserved a rental for Montana. Got unlimited miles and I am going to make each one count. My motto will be tried

"Drive it like you stole it"

Haha my first car was a rental! 1995 Toyota Tercel! Proud day it was.

She was a good car, and after 6 years of being a rental, and then a couple owners, I can say its still on the road today. Even after putting a sway and strut bar in and learning how to snow drift a FWD.

My first job out of college was as a rental specialist at Enterprise RAC. This is completely accurate. On the way to pick up customers, I routinely drove Lincoln Town Cars and Caddilac DeVilles at over 100mph. Likewise little Saturns and Ford Escorts.
I never wanted to know what customers were doing to our cars, as I was the maintenance officer at our branch.

See my above post. My brother was my area manager so I got away with some stuff. Just couldn't escape my driving record. I hated the whole corporate brainwashing, that and I'm not a salesman. Someone said they didn't want the dw and I said OK.

Same here. The recruiter talked a good game, but the reality was something totally different. About six months after I started, my recruiter was let go for some reason everyone kept a secret. I ran into her a few months after I left and she personally apologized to me. Even she knew that spouting off the company line wasn't right.

While I've never driven a rental, my last car (a 2001 Sentra SE) was a loaner used by the dealership. They'd loan it out to people whose daily drivers were having work done, or to make runs for parts.

They never told me this, and actually provided me with an incomplete CarFax report that left that fact out of it. I found it out later on when I ran my own CarFax out of curiosity. Had I known this ahead of time, I probably wouldn't have bought the car. Now that I know they forged/altered the CarFax report, I'll never give them any of my business again - ever. By the time I ran my own CarFax it was too late to do anything official/legal about it.

Before I got my X I used to rent SUV's to try them out to see what I liked, rented a Durango a Land Rovery Disco and a Yukon, I trashed them, the durango did o.k. and the Yukon got a flat on the trail and I did'nt notice for a couple miles, the tire was almost shreeded off the wheel, also got the Disco a little to close to the lake and got stuck up to the frame, I did wash the mud off so it wasn't so obvious I went wheeling, It's a good idea to get the extra insurance they offer, beating up rentals is a way of life, that's why I would never buy one!
