Ok so I noticed that my Xterra has developed a leak due to a spot on my drive way. I looked under it yesterday and noticed oil on the cross member right where the engine and trans meet so I thought rear main seal. But while under I looked to the left and seen something else. looked closer and it was coolant. So right at where the engine and trans meet I have oil on the passanger side and coolant on the driver side. Anybody have this or any ideas?

Im assuming this is a 1st gen...most of the time the valve covers get loose and start leaking from there and run down making you think it is down there, sometimes you can tighten the screws and it will stop but if it's been like that for a while then you replace the gaskets.

The oil pan can also leak along with the rear main so you just have to clean it up real good and drive it a while then check again to be sure so you don't do work that may not be needed like removing the transmission.

Coolant leaks can vary but a common one is the thermo element on the throttle body but it could also be hoses around the thermo housing and such.

Not much help but better than no reply at all, good luck.
