Oil change

I went for a oil change and he said he couldnt open the rear to check the fluid.I am looking for what I need to grease and where. also what to use for the front and rear diff? I am a little above 90k miles and I am off this week so I am looking to get it ready for winter.

I've got 2.5 quarts of 80W-90 LSD on my maintenance spreadsheet from when I changed it

since I will be changing the oil for the first time myself what do I use 10w 30 or something else, I switched over to synthetic, and I am heading to auto zone on wensday.

yea! don't go putting that LSD in your engine... that would probably be a good clarification

that's the LSD 80W-90 for the rear diff

I called a local shop and left them a message asking if they had this stuff in stock, I think if I use this stuff I wont have to worry for a while.

Is there a big difference between Royal purple and red line?

There is nothing to grease on the pulgs on the diffs, either front or rear. The guy that tried to check the level just needs to put on his big boy pants and use a little more strength.

I used royal purple 75w-90 in my rear diff... it is super smooth,... Nissan says to change the rear fluid every 30k... dont forget to put thread sealant on the plugs when installing them

Is that schedule the same for 2wd and 4wd?

Same schedule, and fluids. In the A/T, there is a bit more fluid required for a 4wd vs 2wd.

Will it? probably. Teflon tape is really only recommend up to 3/8" however. I got a tube of Loctite 565 (FSM recommended sealant) from Grainger for about $25. Enough to do everyone's diff for a lifetime.
