I have a 2001. Does anybody know if you can buy aftermarket heated mirrors to replace the current non-heated versions? They are not that hard to wire in. The hardest part is finding their heated counterparts. Thoughts?
Thanks in advance,
Drew

I know that the gen 1's were not wired. The whole thing would not be difficult to wire up though. No different than lighting, just in a different place.
It would be a first that I know of for Gen 1's.
If I can't find a decent kit for a decent amount, I may use my broken 2005 Impala spare mirror and rob peter to pay paul. :)

It's an ok job, the hard part if taking the mirror lens off and then the fun part I fishing the wire from the door to the cabin, and to put the door back on is a 2 person job. I used a snowmobile handlebar heating element, got the idea from a Toyota truck forum. Get a spare mirror or two from the wreckers, and get a broken one for cheap where the mirror lens is intact to practice on, you might break it on the first attempt as I did. I also heated the mirror in the oven a minimum temp for 5-10 min to soften that sticky tacky glue; that's what more likely caused me to break the first mirror. I put it in the oven a good 3-4 times, where as soon as it felt like I was starting to force where I was risking breaking it, back in the oven it went.
