New (to me) X in colorado

hey guys semi new owner here. i bought my x back in november after living in crested butte colorado for a year and traded in my si for it. first off awesome vehicle. mine is a 2002 and love it, funky styling, great 4 wheel drive system, comfortable and drives like a car, i cannot be happier with my purchase. i moved here from houston and never thought i would ever own a suv but i havent looked back since. it has given me a whole new appreciation for cars. before now all i was obsessed with was speed and cornering ability, but now its about versatility and off roading. as for modifications first thing im gonna do is change the color of the interior, paint the exterior plastics and get a set of desert runner wheels, get a good set of tires, and a new exhaust (pretty sure my stock one has more than a couple of hole is in it from road salt). then id really like to get a supercharger but after trolling around ive heard that its just not worth it but i do need more power so that part needs a little bit of a rethink. after all that being said the one thing that i look forward to the most is where this thing will take me. the idea is to build a trail rig and travel across the country to different trails and mountains to snowboard

ive been looking into the options on the intake front. i still dont know if i want to just get a k&n filter or a cai or go with a snorkel. since i want to build a trail rig im thinking the snorkel but havent made a decision just yet a little more research must be done. its not that big of a deal i know but i hate reverting decisions.

The snorkels are nice.. I use the voliant with my snorkel. Don't get a normal cai. It's like a straw for mud and water on the trails.. The free air box mod is nice.. All you need is a K and N

Yep you can pull the baffles out from under the driver side fender and it helps the 3.3 breath better

Welcome to the nation.Let me know if I can help out in any way. I always try and take care of all the XN guys and gals! Shoot me an email if you have any questions about intakes. The volant is a great intake but I also sell drop in filters as well if you wanted to go that route.

I know it was done on CX, but I don't think there's a writeup here. You pull the resonator that's mounted on the radiator and connects down by the IAT, and place a 1 1/2" test plug there so you don't suck in hot engine bay air. Remove the resonator that comes off the intake tube, and plug it with either a 2" test plug or (my preference) a threaded 1 1/2" PCV plug. Last bit is to remove the baffle inside the left fender. The hardest part of it there is a bit that's attached with glue you have to rip out, and most people tear up their arm in the process; if you're lucky it'll just fall out when you pull back the fender liner.

It's been about a year and a half since I've done mine.

ok so a little more complicated than originally thought but nothing too complex. when we get some better weather here ill have a look. its been snowy weather for the past week and dropped the temps to below freezing again when it was starting to get close to the fifties. ive been wanting to restore my headlights for a little while now but cant find the time and when i do the weather doesnt cooperate and give me above freezing temps to do it for the "best" results

thanks for all the welcomes! its a really friendly environment here very nice forum. funny story about my x is the day that i bought it i was transferring all my stuff from my car into it threw the keys onto the driver seat and went back into the dealership to finish all the paperwork and when i went back to the truck to drive away it had locked itself with the only set of keys inside it. i had to get them to jimmy it open before i even took official delivery. and now when i lock it and it drops well below freezing at night the lock freezes. i found that out about a month into ownership and thought that the door had broken and before i could call the dealership about it had thawed

It's not as bad as it sounds; maybe 30 minutes. The writeup Dave posted is the same one I followed (but you do have to join CX to see it).
