Hi there everyone, just joined. Owned my 2015 Xterra Pro-4X since new. Daily driver and use it for hunting. Kept it super good for its age. Was gonna sell due to increasing carbon tax but think I’m gonna keep it coz I love it too much. Love it’s simplicity, reliability, tow capacity, runs on regular gas and off road capability when I’m hunting in the bush. Used to go to main dealer for service but now their mechanics tell me it’s so old they never have parts in and try to rip me off. They don’t seem to know the Xterra anymore as they are only interested in pumping out the next new car. They want $750 plus tax to change spark plugs omg.
So as I’m pretty handy with my other cars I’m thinking of doing some Xterra maintenance myself and taking it to good regular shops for complex maintenance. Trying to decide whether I want to do the spark plugs myself or not as it’s looks like a pain. Does anyone know what I should be paying in a regular shop for spark plug replacement on the Xterra?
Also is it possible to replace a corroded c clamp thing on the leaf spring set up or do you have to replace all the leaf springs as well. A specialist replaced two each on both sides 3.5 years ago so i dont really want to replace the whole thing.
Would appreciate any help in this, many thanks.
