Mod Day: April 5th (1st Gen Calmini install)

Throwing this out there to anyone interested or anyone with better 1st gen experience nearby.

Doing a Calmini 3inch kit install on April 5th in Chesapeake, VA. Aiming to get started at 10am.

We have the space, the tools, the kit, and the hands to do everything. Depending on how many show up, could end up being a cook out/mod day/mudding thing.

Anyone interested in jumping in?

I will post up about the experience here, this isn't going to be on the MX. I will "influence" the owner to go on over to the XN world and post up about his rig after the install is complete.

Nice! I have not ordered from them myself before, but eyeing their kit for my 2nd gen. Deff be on the look out for seperate thread from the owner once the install is done.

The Calmini kit isn't hard. It's getting the old upper control arms off that's a bear.

ha, the fact you followed up that comment with asking about a sawzall is great.

We will have one, I am pretty sure Chris has one. We have done suspension lifts on the 2nd gens, but I have never done a Calmini and never worked on a 1st gen either. So, should be interesting.

Yeah, I've done the Calmini lift. Its pretty easy. But a sawzall is a MUST.

He has a whole kit, not 100% sure what all comes with it. I can ask him though, to check.

The kit doesn't come with them. It'd be a separate purchase. But I'd highly recommend it.

Also, a BFH, propane torch, and lower ball joints. And a ball joint press. It makes sense to do those while you're in there.

I have 1 and 2 (carry those everywhere, weird? no). The other two, I would have to check on as well.

Something else I thought of. Needs new camber bolts, centric washers, & lock nuts. Those can be picked up cheap at the stealership. Need em because we have to cut the old ones.

I found out I have to work overnight on Friday, system conversion testing. I won't be getting out till like 8am.

So I wont be there, if you plan on attending though PM me and I will shoot you the address. A good group of guys will be there - a few trucks will be getting worked on as well.

You have no clue how bad I want to. I tried, but I am the only person who can do the test steps, training someone else would take too much time.

Everything was easy on this. Even the camber bolts came right out. Torsion bars are easy once you get the adjusters out. Had to redo the drivers side bar once because it was a LITTLE to tight.

All in all, it was a successful mod day.
