Longer U-Bolts with AAL?

If you keep the overload leaf then yes. You need longer ones. If you do the right thing and throw the overload leaf in the garbage then stock length ones work fine for a 2-leaf add on. Regardless, don't reuse the ones you have. The torque you're supposed to put on the lock nuts can distort the threads and can make reinstall either impossible or unsafe. Remember that those 4 nuts are all that holds the weight of the vehicle to the leafs. Don't skimp. Get new ones. Same goes for center pins & nuts.

The lift is achieved by the AAL adding arch to the entire spring pack. The presence or lack of the overload does nothing but move the shock mount plate lower to the ground. Trust me. I went through this whole thing when I did mine.

As far as leaf placement. They go in order from shortest on the bottom to longest on the top. If you only have one it goes wherever it fits length wise.

Well with us spring under guys you can hit the bumpstop and still not flatten the pack out, so at full articulation the overload is simply there to get snagged on something.

I think i'll leave it in. I do tend to haul alot when I go on trips.

Where may I get longer U bolts? Would advance sell them or is there an Xterra specific size?

If you've gotta have it today, I suggest taking one of the stock ones up to a NAPA or CarQuest, if you have one around you, otherwise the Interwebs.

U-bolts are pretty universal you just need to know the axle tube diameter and the length from where the bolt goes straight to the end of the threads. That's where having one of the stock ones in hand can ensure you get the appropriate size.

When I did mine the local dealer had the factory ones in stock. So I just ran up there and got them.

I got my last set from advance, get the ones off the shelf that are for lowering, you will pitch a few extra parts but you will have the stuff that you will need to put it back together. Just to let you know, I am running a bastard pack, part first gen, part second gen, part AAL. No overload.

I have had it hang up on stuff before, but that's just me.
