Okay I have the dreaded engine tick,it is very loud.I did a lot of searching and decided to pull the pass side valve cover to take a look.I removed the rocker arm assemblies and lifters.

The lifters have a plunger on top, some cannot br compressed and some move freely.Could this be the cause of the tick?
I have read that if they move then they have trapped air and to replace them.

Also I see no sludge. The oil light in dash is always on.

I wonder if I replace all the lifters in both heads if it will solve my ticking?

A lot of people's "ticks" were exhaust manifold leaks.
I thought so also, because I had a cracked manifold.I replaced with headers and still had problems.I then took it to a reputable shop and had them check everything.I wish I had taken a video of it running.

Lifters should be here Ina few days so my fingers are crossed lol.

have you checked the distributor. if the bearing is going out the rotor button can hit the inside of of the distributor cap and make a sound very similar to ticking. But it usually has sort of a plasticy sound, like tapping the bottom of a plastic cup with something metal. doesnt really sound like what your dealing with, but worth checking either anyway just to rule it out.
