Take it from me and get to know what needs replacing and when.
I replaced the timing belt awhile ago but didn't know I needed to change the water pump as well. Well guess what...I started smelling antifreeze a few days ago and a slight grinding sound. Checked but didn't see anything leaking. Today after installing the cabin filters and replacing the blower motor res. I went to the local parts store for some degreaser and Steena started running hot and the grinding got louder, like marbles rubbing together. As I pulled into the driveway back at the house she hit the high temp mark and the grinding got even louder.
I popped the hood and looked but still no leak but smelled the antifreeze and heard the dreaded gurgling sound. I knew right away what it was and then remembered I didn't change the pump. So, Steena is down for surgery. Water pump, thermo, and it just so happens to be tune up time.
So take it from me, know your maint. schedule and stick to it.
