Saw a thread on a jeep forum about a guy who installed his auxiliary light toggle switches in an interesting way. Rather than drill holes in his dash, he built a long box and fit 6 switches in it. I've taken to the idea and decided to do the same myself with some slight differences to suit the needs for my switches.
Made out of cardboard and duct tape, this is 6x6 inches and just a template. I'm using 9 basic switches, top 3 are lights, middle three are compressor and front and rear lockers, bottom three are for something later (surprise surprise).
Got lucky, a motorcycle/fourwheeler/lawnmower shop had a fourwheeler chaindrive chain cover lying around that he gave "free to a good home." It's 5x5 inches which actually fits better than my cardboard template does. Drilled holes and test-fit some of my old switches.
Switches look good.
Wired them up, I'll put them in tomorrow. For now, only one will actually do anything. But as I continue modding, I can just wire another switch rather than look for a new spot to install another switch.
