ipad/tablet install

I want to replace my headunit with an ipad but if other tablets fit better i would consider installing something else. the ipad mini is really the wrong aspect ratio for double din and there isnt much room on the dash to expand the opening. are there tablets that fit better in a double din? i already have an amp so it should be pretty simple

One of the guys on ClubFrontier.org put a Nexus 7 in his dash. But honestly, if you're gonna use an Android tablet, you might as well buy an Android double din stereo.
