Hey has anyone painted the interior plastic? NOT just the radio plastic cover, but the dash, door panels, column covers, floor boards, rear area panels, etc... If so what paint did you use? AND did you take everything out or just tape and cover really well?

Since I gotta run new wires I figured what da hell why not.

I did my headliner, I would pull anything and everything that I could. You get better results and is a lot easier in the long run.

I painted everything in the rear cargo, all door panels, my whole center console, and im aobut to do the top of the dash.

I just used Krylon Flatblack for plastics.

Everything I took out and laid it on something it painted it there. Much easier than taping everything off.

Same with the handles here, obviously anything you use a lot will get faded or whatever, but that only goes for a few things in the truck.

this isn't xterra specific but my dad painted his entire interior black and orange in his chevy. the orange was done by the guy who painted his truck and that has held up REALLY well. but the black stuff he did on his own has held up well too, he used krylon fusion I believe.

im currently in the middle of painting the interior. so far I have painted the lower dash, center console and glove box. I pulled everything off and this weekend the rest is getting done, door cards, rear plastics and the top of the dash (not looking forward to this one, so far its been a pain in the ass to get out). after this weekend I would have touched every single surface. im using rustoleum universal satin black and rustoleum indoor/outdoor nutmeg. so far its held up pretty well, but its only been a week. when you do paint let everything cure properly and it should last

Guess I better find a Pick-n-Pull for those clips I'm sure to break. Maybe find one with decent interior parts get those to paint and just replace mine. wishful thinking.

Thx, I also wanted to know what type of paint was used but forgot to ask. Krylon fusion flat black is what I had chosen anyway.

Yes I have done that....

I bedlined my dash and door panels and painted the carpet and headliner... I completely blacked out the interior.

I also painted all the doorjambs... there was nothing left unpainted.

I just asked that same question in the ask for diy thread. the answer that I got was that there are about two screws to find and the rest are clips that are VERY hard to unclip. im actually going to tackle this guy again here in about 30 minutes once I get home from work ill let you know how it goes and try to take pictures of the screws

Don't remove the dash... not only is it a ***** but you are risking squeaks and breakage. Tape it all off, roll down windows and open doors. It's worth your time to cover it all up and not worry about breaking fasteners or pieces or developing squeaks and rattles.

I think there was a guy on the frontier forum that painted his interior red. I remember seeing it in a thread, just not sure which one.
