Hey y’all I’m about rebuild the intake manifold on my 01 3.3L and am wondering if I am supposed to silicone the new gaskets in. They didn’t appear to have any on when I removed them, and the lower ones were just bare metal, no more black film on them like the new ones. I couldn’t find anything in old posts. Any advice or opinions would be appreciated. Guy at Napa recommended I use high temp rtv.

Thanks. I noticed some old grey silicone residue around the aft coolant line where the screws were. Not sure if that was factory or someone else that worked on it. It had the timing belt replaced about 80k mi ago at 150k mi.

I was thinking of the air passages. Yes, coolant passages that are metal to metal get some rtv. You might need a dab to hold a gasket in place while you struggle with the fasteners, but like just tapping the tube on the mating surface dab.

Went in nice. I rtvd the coolant line. The four studs held the gaskets in nicely with no goo. I was investigating a cylinder 4 misfire and figured out it was a faulty injector. When I went to clean the plenums the number 5 had the most carbon build up.
