So for the last couple days I have been getting a grinding sound, like metal on metal. I thought it was the rear brakes as a whole but after pulling off both sides there is plenty of meat on all four shoes. And no abnormal wear on the drums.
When I was taking off the wheels the lugs were tighter then normal. It took a while to get some of them off. I was reading around on some forums that over tightening could cause warping and possible noise.
I sprayed down the backing plate with brake cleaner but have yet to drive it since doing the maintenance.
I was thinking it might be a wheel bearing, but it only does it under braking. A wheel bearing would/could hum the whole time correct?
Would low gear oil cause a sound as well?
