change of plans, sorry, cant delete post, or change title, may have found a worthwhile engine. . . ..

My X has encountered a problem in Cyl. #2. Low compression, it is not a vavle or head gasket issue. Engine was remanufactured in 2009.

Other than the engine issue, its pretty damn solid.

02 Se/Sc automatic trans
it has seen dirt roads, some mud puddles, but has not been used offroad much at all.
has Shrock sliders
Nismo Cat back ( put on two years ago)
Rims are still in nice shape
Hankook tires ( 265/70R17 ), less than two years old, low miles on them
Headliner is tore out, but rest of interior is very good/clean.

Located in Schuylkill County PA.

Depending on location I'll make an offer.
Blown motor, headliner torn out and no photos:
$500

It's also worth mentioning that I have a couple motors sitting in the garage if you're interested.
$1000

Cheers,
Josh

located in PA. Not sure where you are located,.... but if you did have a motor, would it be the right one... being the SC version its the low compression block.

also, headliner costs arent much, It just didnt bother me to replace it, photos can be posted if someone is interested...
500???? I could rip the tires off and sell them for an easy 400 bucks.

Too far away to be worth it.
You said offer, so I made one. Not many out there want to buy an X with a blown motor. To many unknowns.
If you know how to work on it, finding a motor is easy and will make it worth more.

Josh

I know people dont want to buy a blown motor,.... but maybe, just maybe someone had a motor, but needed the rest, or needed a very good parts vehicle,. or project vehicle........... so figured I would through it out there, and see what happens.............

I dont want to get rid of it, I'm just not sure if I can afford to dump a few grand more into it at this time. If I can find a way to put a motor into it, I will. But just curious what the To many unkowns would be.

But just curious what the To many unkowns would be.

Since I flip cars and trucks like this on my free time, I look for certain things.
First up, blown motor, that was rebuilt in 2009. This tells me that things may not have been taken care of properly (two engines in it over a very short (IMHO) amount of time) It can also say things have been beat on VERY HARD. With those two assumptions, what else is failing on the vehicle, tranny, t-case, suspension... You see where I'm going with that. Add to that a torn out headliner, and it makes me wonder just how bad the vehicle has been treated, and is it worth the time to fix and flip.
Roughly 65% of all engine failures are owner caused.

I am not saying ANY of this is true about YOUR truck however.

Those are just what I consider "unknowns" when searching out vehicles and reading an add like yours.

Good photos, much more description, maintenance records attached to the add would all help put prospective buyers at ease.

Not knowing your area very well, I may be wrong on this one, however you should be able to find a long block engine at most wrecking yards around you for $500 or less. That would put keeping the rig within your budget if you can do the work yourself, or with the help of a friend or two.

Hope that explains your question.
Cheers,
Josh

yes that explanation does help, as I said I dont wish to get rid of the X, but it may have to come to that...... this second failure, really has my doubts up about putting any more $$$ into it. I've bought cheaper vehicles, that I did abuse, and they just kept on running along...... I bought this one, as a keeper, something I wanted to hold on to and take care of.........

the first failure was less than a year after I bought it, Cyl. #4 went that time... sent the motor out for reman,..figured I was going to be good with it. about 35K miles or so later and now Cyl. #2 appears to be going the same route. I understand your way of looking at it, but this was bought as a reliable way to get to and from work, it was not bought for offroading use, seeing as how work requires me to sometimes drive in the worst winter conditions.
It has seen dirt roads,.. for shooting, fishing, and maybe just some exploring, I've never put into a spot where it had to "power out" or be beaten hard to travel. I cant afford to "offroad" it so to say, as much as I would like to.

I did do the work of pulling and reinstalling the engine when it went last time, but this time , I have no place to do so myself. I do know the care that has been given to the X,.. but I do not know the "track record" of things such as the tranny's, rears, T-case's and other major items on them,. such as how much longer I can expect them to last, meaning is it really worth it for me to dump another couple grand into this vehicle or not. It may sound crazy, but for me, its a financial risk that I really cant decide if its worth it.

the headliner,... pretty simple, it started to sag, could not get it to stay up, and was sick of seeing flap in the breeze as I drove, so out it came. the look doesnt bother me, so never replaced it.

They took mine and remanufactured it, at least thats what the deal was for, and is what I paid for. it was done by Promar out of Jersey, and came back with a three year, unlimited mile warranty.
