First Fill-Up (of many)
Hey, Just bought my 07 X 6 months ago. Been a wheeler for a long while but my 85 CJ-7 ended up a full crawler which is fun and all but when the wife doesn't like going 1 mile in 3 hours and the kids don't fit in the back because you moved the axle back and stuck a fuel cell there well it's not good...... Bought the X for more family friendly adventures and overlanding and such. Going to say goodbye to the Jeep and build the X - currently fighting with myself on the degree. If I'm being honest I'm sure how it'll go ;).

Welcome from Denver!

Not to muddy the waters, but a Titan swapped truck is still a capable family vehicle.
Just a thought then.. to get the full travel I'm going to guess we are saying goodbye to the sway bars - my Jeep in this configuration was like strapping yourself to a slinky at highway speeds. Any issues with the X?

What are sway bars? Haven't had them in years. Even during some emergency maneuvers on the highway, feels prefectly stable.

Welcome!

Titan swap on 35’s here.

If you have wheeling experience, just go straight to Titan swap. Titan swap and 33’s is a sweet spot. 35’s get a lot more expensive. I should have Titan swapped sooner.

Good luck!
Was thinking 3" of lift and 33's - I'm afraid the 35's would add to much money and might end up costing me half of all I own in the divorce ( I jest - I think :) ) was looking at your build was thinking of doing the tundra 5100 and custom top hat myself. Did you buy the top hats? I can't find them built anymore so am sourcing the mats to build them myself at this point unless someone knows of somewhere to pick them up.

I made them. The setup rides great. We did it on my dads xterra also (33’s). His is just a dd - put the Titan front sway bar on and the thing is on rails. So much more improved than stock.

I like the procomp tundra shocks a little better, but you really need a few extra snap ring grooves machined in if you want to stay low. Valving is firmer. You can use a 14”x3” coilover spring at any rate you want. Much more options than getting the Toyota coil springs.

I’ll take a Titan swap on either bilstein or procomp tundra shocks (ran both) any day over stock width on radflos. Better in absolutely every aspect.

Do you happen to know the procomp # and do they cut grooves like bilsteen or did you use a machine shop or something else?

do you have a build thread/pics/info for your dads rig?

I don’t have a build thread for his. R180 extended shafts from rugged rocks, Titan lca’s, spc uca’s, procomp tundra shocks with my top hats and 550 lb/in king coilover springs, ome leaf springs with PRG shackles and bilstein 5125’s out back. Titan sway bar with diy links (similar to what PRG sells). 2” wheel spacers on the rear axle. 3* shims iirc. I think that covers it. Feel free to ask if I left anything out.

edit: hitachi Titan tie rod ends. This is a must for Titan swap - them and stock are the only ones that don’t pinch and cut the boot at full droop.
