I decided to tackle sliders for my Xterra again. Took about 4 days from mock-up to bolted up.
First I mocked up the main bar and posts.
Cut the main bar and tacked it to the posts which had been tacked to the mounting plates.
Decided to trim the front tip to bring it back just a bit from the fender. It was too tight for my liking.
Main Bar and posts welded.
I do not have access to a tube bender so I cut my tube to the angles I needed.
My Jig for cutting the tube at the correct angle. Clamps weren't enough and I ended up tack welding the tube to the jig.
The angle of the tube is 45 degrees off the outside face of the bar.
Sliders are ready for some sanding and filing and prepped for paint.
Primed
A little mishap. This was caused by trying to use an auto body primer on top of a still drying metal primer. I had to use acetone to take it back down to metal in those spots and re-prime.
Painted with 4 coats of Rust-o-leum Enamel Black.
Ready for installation.
Sliders mounted on my 2007 Xterra Off-Road.
