catalytic converter removal questions

ok how the ef do you get these things off the 1st gen? i have a body lift so i thought it would be easier... i cant get my freaking wrench in their to take them off! also, im doing test pipes and the spark l=plug defowler trick so where is the sensor? i saw one but it was befor the cat? is there another one? its right after the preheaters.

One sensor is in the manifold, right before the cat. The 2nd sensor is under the body, right about the firewall, and kinda points into the body. It'll be right after the 1st cat and before the 2nd lump. Most people have had to use the 90* CEL eliminators because there isn't much room. I've done the spark plug nonfouler trick on a different vehicle and it sticks up quite a bit.

i cant find the angled ones on the internet but ill keep looking, also, are there different thread types? or is it just one? im guessing ill be buying a two pack of angled and a two pack of normal right?

nothing is un doable as long as you keep the parts, it is just that some things are not worth un doing when that time comes.

I'm going to gut my cats for right now, and then I will post up a before and after. its going to be alot more efficient, and my fuel economy will hopefully come back!! i think i may save for doug throley headers as well. should sound pretty good, and my fuel economy shoul definately increase.

Yeah same here just have the straights. No elbows and therefore no headaches of having to remove the exhaust to install them.


Looks tight in the picture, but its got at least a inch of room all the way around.
