Yea I'm probably at like 10 city. I haven't gone on a big road trip since I swapped but it only takes about half a tank to go from San Antonio to Houston which is about 185 miles.

Yeah, longer road trips are nice since they re-set the computer and improve your mpgs. :)

I have an IMS as well. Once installed I noticed nice rpms staying steady on hills at highway speeds and such. Fairly easy install, too.

Could somebody school me on gears? I know I'm gonna want to regear for my 35s but I know absolutely nothing about it. Where do I buy the gears and is it something I can do myself or would I need to take it to a shop to get done?

you'll probably want to take it to a shop to have them do it since the ring gear mounts to the diff carrier (or whatever the "proper" name for the part is) and then your gear mesh, and all of that type of stuff needs to be set and it's VERY tight tolerances....also, expect your wallet to get lighter...

Thanks! This site makes my wallet lighter all the time so it should be getting used to it! Lol do you know where I can buy the gears at? I try searching but sometimes whenever ppl get to talking about this stuff it might as well be Chinese lol.

Gearing is greek to me as well, but I believe that lower gears are better for larger tires.

This is very true. I think I have a calculator somewhere, what was your stock tire size and what's your trans/trim and I'll look up what gearing you'll need to keep close to stock performance.

I believe I am still running stock tire size just in an all terrain I'll have to check the size in the morning.. My diff is the c200k? With 3.13 gears already I think? Sorry this stuff just doesn't make much sense to me. :banghead:

If you don't have the dana44/m226 rear, you aren't regearing. Go to 35's and be happy with improved highway fuel economy...
So I can't regear at all? That kinda blows.
I'd just go to 33's and get rid of the step/rocker panel destroyers ;)

I plan on gettin rid of them once I order some sliders, the lady wouldn't be able to get in my truck without a step

If you come up in April, take them off before you come up. You WILL get body damage from them...

There are a few areas/obstacles that should be fine for a 2wd, if you're 2wd only, you shouldn't be going anywhere that ground clearance will be that big of a deal...

Sure, that gets the rear, now find the front, at the same ratio, and, that's too steep of a ratio for your rig...you might need to gear down that far for 37's...

I don't have a front being 2wd. So it would be overkill? I'll keep looking. Thanks

Oh 2wd only? Gotcha

Still overkill, you're going up about 13% in tire diameter, changing from a 3.13 to a 4.07 would be about a 30% gear reduction. I say leave it alone, put a bullydog on it and advance the timing a couple degrees and do the regular tune and you'll be fine. You may not pick up quite as fast, but, you'll be fine.

I am beginning my search for 35s. I am doing my body lift the weekend of march 8th so I am definitely gonna need some bigger tires after that's done.
