Bedliner and the headliner

I'm looking at using this:

http://www.lowes.com/pd_17750-90-24...t&pl=1&currentURL=?Ntt=truck+paint&facetInfo=

Has anybody used it before? Also any tips on how to?

I'm planning on doing this tomorrow and using left overs on my factory rack. Aside from removing all of the foam and possibly sanding the headliner I don't really have much more of a plan as far as preping it goes. I'm just going to use the black for now and might paint over it later cause it's cheaper than buying grey bedliner.

Thanks for any advice.

Check my build thread, I have personally done this.. Getting the foam off was a PITA, however I love having it bedlined.

I just painted the headliner pan with extra flat spray from advance, and yes the worst part is sanding off all of the old glue and foam.

I even had to fix one of the ribs where the adhesive for the roof had come off.

Wish I had done it years before I did it, much easier to keep clean.

After much searching I finally found it in your build.....but now I have an additional question. Who does it attach to the rest of the X? I was expecting lots of those plastic plug things that constantly break but don't see where they would be? (I do realize your pic is of the side you see). Is it most held in by the pillars, strap hooks, lights, ect?

I'm thinking about painting it after but want to use the bedliner because I like the texture it leaves. Do you like flat better than glossy?

It is only held up by a screw from the netting between the driver and passenger seats, and those plastic clips in the rear. Other then that it is held up by the plastics on all the pillars. You have to remove all of the plastics in order to get it out, also while it is not needed I would suggest having two people tackle this job, I kind of folded/creased my headliner trying to get it back in. It is not noticeable however I know that it happened and it made that one spot weak (but who is relying on the headliner to hold something up)

Awesome thanks for the tips. I have a sunroof so that might be a slightly different hurdle but shouldn't be to bad. Ill be doing it at my buddy's place and he owes me for helping with his padio so I'm sure he'll help hold it up.

Yeah, I am not sure about the sunroof but I do know that you will need to take all the plastics on the pillars. Watch out, the B Pillars are really difficult with the seat belt.

Yeah I noticed that.....it takes a bit the size of Pluto.....and the rest of the stuff was a PITA too....I feel very deceived about the ease of this step. Ready to get to sanding tomorrow.

Yes Ive used it to bedline the outside of my brothers trucka dn moms focus. I used spray on bedliner to do my headliner (I was the first to do it :p) but will be redoing it with this.

It's starting to sound like the roll on is more popular than the spray on. I went with it because I felt you can more easily get even coverage and the price was better than buying many many cans of spray.

Thats not as many cans as I would think. The 1 quart should cover about 35 sq ft so I expect to have a bit left over for the factory rack.

yeah I have an addiction to bedliner if you cant tell from my build thread lol tip though. you get great texture if you use the blue sponge type rollers like monstaliner! I hate the rustoleum ones

I went over to my friends place to use his work building to do this. It took an entire 1 quart can of it to do a good first coat a thick second coat and touch up a few spots. It hasn't quite dried but he'll call me later tonight to tell me how its looking and if I'll need another can.

My lessons learned are:
- When pulling the fabric off leave as much foam as possible, this makes it much easier to scrape off, trust me you'll see.
- A bear claw ice scrapper works very well
- Use small strokes when scrapping and do areas wider than the scrapper going side to side over lapping the areas.
- Pray you never used an adhesive prior to keep the headliner up.....the left over goo is a PITA!!!

Looking back on those photos they are kind of blurry, my apologies. I can say that it has held up extremely well since January when I did this. I still love it every day that I get in my truck.

Thanks, that looks sweet. Are there any advantages to bed lining the headliner?

My headliner was starting to sag down, so bedliner will not sag. It will also look badass. I don't know of too many more pros and can't think of any cons.

I'm looking forward to picking it up. It looks kind of neat without it but I want the inside put back together.

I updated my build thread with some pics of it. I was hard to get a decent pic of it installed. Link in the sig.
