5 Speed filler plug location?

My 2002 X 2wd, V6, 5 speed - the transmission wines in pretty much every gear (have heard this is normal for Nissan 5 speeds), but my 2002 Frontier p/u didn't. Anyway I felt the gear box might be low of fluid so I looked under and located the "drain" on the bottom, then looked higher up and saw two elect. connections and in that general area (just above the connectors) I see a large nut (might be 3/4 to 7/8") I see threads on the bottom so can I assume I have found the filler/check lever plug? Am I right? No leaks to be found. If I am correct and am able to get the plug out (I will be on front tire ramps) will the front of the X being on the ramps give me a false level check? Again, I assume if is full fluid (GL-4) should weep out the exposed hole? Tnx in advance for any help.

Fluids should always be checked when level. And, yes, the fluid should be level with the fill hole.

I can't answer the question about the filler plug, as I have an AT.
