2003 manual transmission capacity?

my capacities sheet said something about 4 1/4 pints I thought. When I drained it, it filled up my big oil pan, and I put 4 quarts back in it without it really overflowing. How many typically would this transmission hold? I don't wanna drive with it low.

4 pints is the 5W71C MT (4 cyl). The 5R30 uses 10 3/4 pints. Or about 5 1/2 quarts.

perfect. I've got 2 quarts left I'll throw them in. What does the transfer case hold? does it need to be GL four also?

Just over 2qt. It can use either the same fluid or matic d

Okay. I have four quarts of Nissans GL4, so I can put 1.5 into the trans and have 2.5ish left. Maybe I'll order one more. Hmm....

Hi. Yeah. The manual transmission doesn't use automatic fluid. It uses 90w GL4 gear oil. Transfer case is automatic tranny fluid. If you put matic fluid in the R30, be prepared for bad things.

what? no. I haven't done the transfer case yet, but I thought it used exact same fluid as the transmission, not so? this is what I put in the transmission.

Yeah. You're good there. Deeb mentioned Matic D. That's a nono for the transmission.

But the transfer case does use some flavor of ATF.
