Hey All!

So my baby has a misfire. Ran the code p0302 cylinder 2 misfire.

It started out as just a misfire while at a low idle ie in drive and stopped.
It would go away as i started to drive but then once stopped it would come back. That was yesterday.

Today it started out the same then about half way into work I started to feel it constantly. Now i feel like i am driving a cam'ed out lawn mower lol. And it sure as heck sounds like it too.

I'm thinking of replacing the distributor cap, wires, spark plugs and even the sensors since i'm already going to be doing the rest. I have value gaskets to replace while i'm at it too.

Is there anything else i should be checking on? Which NGK sparks plugs should i be picking up? I heard the bkr5es11's seem to last longer. I just want to make sure as i'm not all that familiar with spark plugs.

Hey Mz. Doodle, I started to get a misfire on #3. Progressively got worse to a Random misfire on all. I changed all the plugs except #6. No change. Started to change the wires. Turned out to be a broken wire electrode on #3 and #5. Not saying that's your problem just suggesting to check that before getting a new Distro.

Might be the distributor itself that need replacing, not just the cap. I know the distro bearings are prone to failure, but you need to talk to someone who's experienced it so they can tell you what to look for. I would guess that after you pull the cap, if there's any play in the rotor then the distributor needs to be replaced.

Bearing is my thought too. Pull the cap and check the rotor for any play from/back and left/right. Any play means its toast.

PFR5G11 is the OE spec; Nissan says they'll last 105, and with the number of people who have 150k + on the original #6, I'll keep using them. I did the 200k tuneup about 4 months and 5k ago and the girl is still loving it. Plugs, wires, cap and rotor. My bearing still seemed fine.

Check your plug wires, I too had that problem on number #2. I was actually able to let it idle and pop the hood and saw it arching across to the heads. Course I saw that AFTER I changed the plugs and distributor.....(facepalm)
