Updated/restructured the first 2 posts and added pics of my gauge pod

Things to come:

-> Sometime over plant shutdown (week of July 4th) I'm going to redo my Herculiner.. got some white showing through in places and its bugging me. I can't decide if I'm going to just go over what I have now or take it all the way up to the body line that runs across the doors.. decisions decisions

-> Working on my e-fan setup.. I know I posted the same thing on my 12/6 post.. but that never happened lol. I pulled off the mechanical fan last weekend and measured for a custom shroud so at least I'm starting somewhere!

-> Hopefully once this semester ends and I start working 40 hour weeks again I can finally order up some skid plates!

-> I have a welded front diff waiting to go it along with some Hardbody manual hubs.. I hope to have those in soon. I'm heading to Uwharrie towards the end of June with some buddies so I definitely want to have it in by then

Minor updates.. got the welded diff put in before me and some buddies headed to Uwharrie 6/21-6/23.. It did great, other than having to unlock one of the hubs on tight turns lol and I didn't have any traction problems! I do have a couple more wheeling trips planned for this year though so we will see how it goes!

Couple pics from Uwharrie

The greenish grand has a 2" budget boost, 31's, skids, and sliders,
The orange X has a 2" BL, 33's, welded front diff, and sliders
The black TJ has a Dana 60 rear with an air locker, 4" lift (i think), sliders, skids, beadlocked 36's

Also painted my roof rack, put on new stickers courtesy of Creepy, and mounted my hi-lift with some horizontal mighty mounts.. I had Chauvet clamps on there previously but with repainting my rails, i decided I didn't want to jack up the paint so soon. So I scoured ebay for a few weeks and scored a set of 4 brand new mighty mounts for $20

Also replaced the E3 spark plugs with NGK double platinum plugs and NGK wires.. it definitely seems to run a lot smoother. I've been getting a solid 17.5-18 mpg with mixed highway/town driving.. I'm pretty happy with that!

Still planning on doing an e-fan swap.. just haven't gathered up all of the necessary parts. I'm currently saving up for some shrockworks skid plates though and maybe some White Knuckle sliders ;)

Where did you get the pod mount? The gauges and also the mount for the mag lite? Sorry not trying to thread jack but those are things I want to add to my xterra lol.

How did you get the engine so damn clean? I need to know!

Also, what is that behind your brake fluid res?

No problem. The pod came from here http://www.gaugepods.com/nissan_t.html

I found the maglite mounts at my local Ace Hardware.. but you can find them on amazon too.. just search for 'maglite mount' and make sure you get the right size.. AA, C-cell, D-cell, etc

Haha it looks fairly clean.. but the light overhead is really bright so it looks cleaner than it really is.. but anyways, every once in a while i just spray some of this on the engine when its cool

degreaser_32oz_hero.jpg

and then hose it off. I despise mud.. especially if you're trying to work under it and chunks of it are falling in your eyes and whatnot; so i tend to stay away from it and clean it off as soon as I can

Will the gauge pod from a 2002 fit a 2001? That link you sent shows they make it for the 1st gen but from 2002-2004 so just checking it will actually fit my xterra since it's a 2001. I know they did a face lift but not sure what else they may have changed.

That I'm not sure of.. do some searching around the various forums, there's bound to be someone who's asked the same question. I did have to trim mine in a few places to get it to fit like I wanted though

Darn it seems that I have the handles up by the windshield on my side pillars and you guys don't. Darn guess they did change a few minor things. Oh well time to get creative with making a pod mount.

Yea I had a handle there too. It just unbolts.. no big deal. there's a bracket behind it that is welded to the a-pillar.. it doesn't get in the way

I hate it when that happens! I have had a slow P/S leak for over a year, which led to an unnatural amount of gunk (p/s fluid + dirt) buildup and it always finds a way into my eyes when I am working underneath the car.

As far as hosing down the engine compartment, what exactly do I need to cover to protect from the water? Thanks!

I've never covered anything.. don't douse the engine full blast with the hose.. mine has a mist setting so you can just hit it lightly with water.. just enough to rinse off the cleaner

Once I unbolt that handle how do you remove the pillar without breaking the tabs? Mine seems to still be held really securely to the truck. I pulled it back a little bit and noticed a few plastic slip clips holding it on. How do you get it out of those without breaking them?

They're just pressure clips like whats on the back side of door panels.. As long as you pull straight out, the cover will come off

Well damn! Nice find

Me speak good when I tweet. Bump for updates?

Sent from space and stuff

Haha. No updates that I can think of at the moment.. I'm moving out beginning of next month so I've been saving up for furniture and what not.. some buddies and I have some wheeling trips coming up this spring though so I need to finally order skid plates soon

So did you throw the skids on already then? I wonder if, even with the added weight, the smoother underside would help with gas mileage?? Haha, I have actually heard this before and would be interested to hear if it's true or not. I know, I know, you didn't get them for the gas mileage ;) but its just a thought haha

Lol I'll have to check! Right now I just have the gas tank skid on.. pretty sure my throwout bearing is making some noise so I might be getting that replaced. Didn't want to bolt all of the skids on and then have to take them right back out to replace the bearing

I didn't.. I had some input into its design but I had a local guy build it a few years ago.. it's worked great for recoveries.. can't wait to test it out with a winch finally lol

Decided to change out the wheels the 34's were on.. went with some 15x8 Soft 8's. I'm picking up a daily mid-month so I'm going to sell the all terrains.. no need to have 2 sets of tires for a single purpose vehicle lol

Along with the 5 new wheels, I went ahead and bought a full-size spare!
