Motor is shot. Damn. They said #5 piston was shot and may have even broke through the cylinder wall.

I have read that the faster you're going when it breaks, the greater the chance of engine damage. He was going slow, turning into a parking lot. What are the odds the valves, etc. are OK?
So it looks like I need a timing belt replacement in my son's Xterra. His died on him as he was turning into school today. Code 0340. And I pulled the dist cap off and the rotor does not turn when you try to crank it.

No, it was fairly easy actually. The only issue you might have is the 2 star bolts, but mine were standard. Guessing it had already been replaced once.
Well, I replaced the airbag Saturday. I didn't die, and the final result looks great. The only issue was - when I completely finished, I felt like I forgot something. I did. I forgot to plug in the new airbag. I pulled the glove box back up, plugged in the airbag, and replaced the glove box.
We also took the failing plasti-dip off the wheels.
I have more leaks to find/fix. Need to replace the stereo. The single din Pioneer and still-factory speakers won't cut it long for my son in high school. LOL.
I have a 2003 Xterra that I'm guessing had an airbag deployment. So the cover in the dashboard over the airbag is messed up. Looks like it was taken to an "expert" and repaired. It's rough looking. Can I buy just the cover and replace it? I had the glove box out to replace cabin air filter, and...
