Just got the xterra back. My brother gave me the family discount and only charged me $478 to do the water pump, timing belt, altinator, and flush the heater core. He also worked a little bit to try and find the cause of the misfire. It sheared about 7 - 8 teeth off the belt he said he did not think there was any damage to the engine, it ran fine on the way home from his shop.

I know, I was getting prepared for the worst. I went and got preapproved for a loan on a 2011 titan but now I think I'm going to wait another year to get one. This way I can afford to keep the xterra for a trail rig and get a titan. I am going to set up an account for all my overtime pay to go into so I can save up for a bigger down payment and fix some of the other problems with my xterra.

I am contemplating a new truck lately. And the wife told me this evening that she doesn’t want to see the X if I get a new ride ( meaning I need to get rid of it ).

My argument with that is with my wife is that the xterra is paid off and besides a few repairs it is only costing like $35 a month in insurance and a shiat load in gas. I told her well if I keep my xterra I won't be taking a truck that I will be making payments offroad and tearing it up.

Though I will have to get a car hauler to tow the xterra with.

I have the same arguments minus the car hauler. But we don’t have enough room in our yard for a truck, van and a weekend toy ( Xterra) so we will see when spring comes what happens. But till then you guys need to put up with me a bit longer
