Objective: reduce interior wind and road noise.

Time: Super simple, takes less then 5 minutes to complete.

Tools: T-40 torx bit

Steps:
1. Take a quick spin in the X down the highway preferably. This helps you relize just how much of a difference this mod really makes

2. Grab your T-40, pop your rear hatch, and loosen up these two torx screws. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1336189558.102277.jpg

3. Adjust the rear tailgate catch in as far as you can. It was kinda stuck in place for me so I used the end of the wratchet and whacked it in towards the cargo are a few times. It should move about 2-4mm, so not much, but it makes a big difference.

4. Retighten the torx screws and take it for another spin on the highway.

Final thoughts: I noticed a huge difference after doing this and figured I would share it with the rest of my X family. :)

Cheers,
James

It's a metric torx.
Example for you Torx on far left and Allen on the far right:

I didn't want you to go out and buy the wrong tool, hope this helps. :)

That's very helpful actually. I've got some of those in my tool box and just never thought I'd have a use for them. I don't know if I'll have one big enough though. We shall see!

I did go ahead and do this. I had the torx bit needed and I've only been able to take the X up to 60mph since the change. I'll be driving on the highway for about an hour pretty soon so I'll report again after that. My preliminary feeling is good though. If I could get the front doors to sound a little more "sound" then I'd be happy too.

I'm going to try this as well, my hatch door sounds like it could be more snug when I close it. ASSuming the first gens are adjustable too.
