Wheel options..

Hey guys, fairly new to the forum and was looking into wheel options. There is obviously the option to buy new wheels, but I am in college. Does anyone fool around with plastidip on the forum, or just straight up rattle canning the hoes?

Rattle can is the way to go. it is nice to be able to touch them up after you drag them across some rocks. Would not do it any other way myself. Powdercoating is nice, but touching it back up is problematic at best. Is this going to be a street ride pr is it going to hit the trails?

Not anytime soon, still have some things to do before that happens. Thanks for the info!

Yeah, I would think plastidip would be too easily removed. Several people have painted theirs and have had good results. I'd say the most important thing is prep work and patience.

Another seX member down here plasti-dipped his plastics and wheels. If you don't like it, it peels off, but otherwise it seems like it stays on pretty well.

I've never bought a new set of rims. Rattle can them. Its super easy, and looks just as good. I just recently bed lined mine and it looks awesome.

I used DupliColor Bed Armor and a Krylon craft paint pen for the white stripe.
Disregard the dripping, I was too anxious to get them done and laid it on too heavy.

I painted my 1st gen wheels with rustoleum wheel paint. Very easy to do.

On my 2nd gen, I had some wheels "Professionally" painted.

Just plasti dipped mine well see how it holds up honestly I am a bit disappointed it was a lot harder to apply An even coat honestly will probably peel it as soon as it starts to tear but for now it looks okay for 20 bucks

I plasti-dipped mine to see if I liked the black look. The nice thing is it can easily be undone. It's held up better than I expected. After a year and a half of brake dust and mud, they could use a touch up but from 15 feet away still look fine. I wash them weekly and the plasti-dip doesn't come off.

The $&)(in plasti got chipped on the way home from my friends house and I decided if I drove 3 miles and it got one decent chip I don't want to drive 100 miles back to school Friday and find 100000 chips so I've peeled the drivers side so far and applied rustoleum flat black enamel industrial strength here they are now

My question is should I ruin the flat black look and clear them or keep the flat black look and not clear it I mean the stuff said it could handle industrial application

And to attest to the ease of peeling plasti dip to put people's worries to rest who are afraid to mess it up
