I urge anybody, even if not from or living in AZ to help take action with this issue! We need your help!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some of you are involved in land use issues, some are not, some have no idea what I'm talking about. The facts are that our public lands are increasingly becoming in danger of restriction & closure. I am involved to the extent I write emails & letters when called upon as well as help legally re-open trails that have become closed (such as Collateral Damage). I know AZ-Ted is more hands on with the work he does with the Arizona Off Highway Vehicle Coalition (AZOHVC).

Anyway, Tonto National Forest is under attack & could face some severe restrictions/closures if we as a community do not take action. There is a "travel management plan" in the works, which basically mean the BLM & USFS are attempting to control, mark, and restrict access to what has been histroically a free & open area.

Here is the link to the main discussion on the Virtual Jeep Club & the important info on how to act. Chris Radoccia (My1stJeep) does a great deal in working with the BLM to keep access where we want it.

From the VJC:
Ok, here is the scoop. Currently there are 26+ maps to review, we are only now finishing map 11. Jeff is working just about round the clock to get this done, however 30 days is not enought time to perform a complete review for comments, especially for the largest forest in AZ.

There are three things we need to do. First include in your letter to the FS a comment that 30 days is not enough time to review and comment on the largest and most widely used forest in the state of AZ.

Second in reviewing the options the AZOHVC really feels thus far that a combination of option 2 and 4 will serve the OHV community best. Your letter should support the AZOHVC and can be specific that we are using a combination of option 2 and 4. Feel free if there are any specific trails or portions of other options you want to include to do so. Please be sure when sending your letters to the FS to copy your letters to gursh1spud@aol.com we need to submit them with the comments from the AZOHVC.

Third we want to show club support as well as individual support. So for the clubs what we need is the club name, contact person, good contact phone number and number of members. The FS will be calling to validate, if they can't reach you then your clubs input will not be counted. This is a new trial option, lets make it work. So send a letter from your club to gursh1spud@aol.com and include the details of club name, contact name, GOOD contact phone number and number of members. Please get these in ASAP, time is getting short.
