I was exiting the freeway this morning and my X shut down. at least I got to a parking lot and had someone come get it and take it home. when the truck shut off it made a whining noise similar to something with a lot of power winding down. i am getting spark and it is trying to start but nothing. i am thinking possibly the fuel pump. any ideas???

Our pickup had the same thing happen. My wife was driving it and I don't know if it made any noises but we're assuming fuel pump. It's at the shop and I guess they'll get to it monday. I'll know then if it's the fuel pump or not.

Oh yeah most likely. Well if you can change the t belt your self than it would be a good indicator if the motor is bad. If not it would be iffy to spend alot of money on letting a shop do it.

Your belt probably snapped on the highway but at a constant speed you won't tell a difference it was coming off of the high way that you you and you might have got lucky if you didn't get any hard or loud bang but it's still iffy until you put a new belt and see.

well when i talked to the shop on friday before i left work they said that they would put a new belt on it and try to start it. worse case is that i bent a valve and that motor will need to bee over hauled. hopefully that isn't the case got my fingers crossed.

well just got the phone call from the shop and they told me that there was no damage done enternaly to the motor and the replaced all of the belts while it was there. now time to be-build the front end for me.

Have them do the water pump and tensioner at the same time. It's all in the same area and cheaper to do it now while they are there than have to tear it all down again when it fails.

yea the also did that at the same time. they also pointed out to me that the bushing were shot on the sway bars and the ball joint needed to be replaced. then after that is done i can start to lift it.
